I was lucky enough to see this car in person at the Yellow Rose Classic in August and, since then, develop a friendship with the owners. I would LOVE to do a photo shoot with this car and a Stampede... "Mustang sales were a littlesoft in the winter of 1966-1967 in this area, so Ford wanted to boost them. And Texas Ford dealers were complaining because California got the California Special."
Actually, California had their California Special starting in 1966, as did Colorado with the High Country Special. In response, the next year Ford produced a special Mustang for the Texas market. "Ford said, 'We'll give you a Lone Star Limited, painted a unique color with special badges on it. And we'll deliver them to the Depot, the actual Dallas hub.' " This is the fender badge of the Bluebonnet: "Ford called it the Lone Star Limited, but in Texas it was known as the Bluebonnet Special Mustang." Here is the article in Mustang Monthly: http://www.mustangmonthly.com/featuredvehicles/mump_0504_1967_ford_mustang_hardtop_lone_star_limited_restoration/index.html------------------- NOTE: Don Smith and Ray Coleman are members of the North Texas Mustang Club and active members of the Board of Directors. Yeah NTMC!

Reba, I saw this pony also at the YR show and took pics. My dad when he was working for Union Pacific (retired now) remembers hauling this special cars to Dallas on the train. I had an uncle (deceased now) who worked at the FORD plant in Dallas which was in Fair Park area during the 60s and had my dad's 1964 FORD truck ordered from. It would have been awesome if these guys had a camera back then to take photos (ha).

Hi, my name is Eric, I live in Antwerp, Belgium and I just bought a 67 Bluebonnet special in Dallas. I am very proud with this car, but unfortunately it is missing the original lone star badges. It will probably will be "mission impossible" to find these emblems, but if anybody has any idea where to search, please let me know.
Eric

Hi, Send me your contact info via private message and I will pass it on to Don Smith and Ray Coleman. They were the ones who restored the vehicle in the pictures shown. Don Smith owns the car. Don and Ray are members of the same Mustang Club that I am.
